Hi All,

I recently (2 days ago) received my Surface Book 3 (32GB Ram 1 TB SSD). I am a professional photographer that was using apple for the last 15 years and was fed up with their dodgy marlarkey... so the leap back to Windows. I use a Nikon D850 and take a lot of astrophotography pictures (large files, approx 30MB per photo). I have Lightroom and photoshop, both part of the adobe creative suite. In the last day, using Lightroom, I have had no end of problems editing my photos... lagging, crashing, glitches, no before and after photos being displayed, no picture previews, etc. I am using the surface book plugged into the mains, docked into the keyboard, to access the GPU and Graphics card, but everything seems to be running slowly and not to peak performance... there are no other apps open when using Lightroom - please help! any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

    I have Lightroom and photoshop

When you open this programs, do you right click and then select Run with Nvidia
graphics? Try that. Also, go to Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update and
Check for Updates until no more are available to install.

Thanks Barb, I have checked both of your suggestions and it has made no difference - In addition I have now encountered a problem with PS - how to do get around the keyboard shortcuts when using PS in tablet mode? It's driving me nuts. I have called up the touch keyboard when using PS but this causes half the screen to disappear when I close the keyboard, the only way I can get PS back to normal after that is to close and reopen it - causing me to lose my work... worrying that I may have to return my Surface Book if these issues keep popping up :(

I would not use PhotoShop in tablet mode. If you mean that you are using as a
tablet with the screen detached, that means you are not using the Nvidia GPU
which is actually in the keyboard.

Hi Barb, when I mean using it in tablet mode I mean either as a detached stand alone tablet or in "studio" mode where it is still detached but on backwards so I can use it as a tablet still connected to the keyboard... kinda the whole point of the surface book series.

I'm only using PS to draw 2d sketches so it wouldn't need the graphics card anyway - but the access to the shortcuts and the glitches in PS are very frustrating , I will check out your suggestion on my other post about the pop up touch keyboard but very unimpressed thus far.

detached would be a problem because you'd lose access to the NVidia GPU. Studio
mode "should" allow access to use the NVidia GPU.
