    Hi Denis,

We appreciate your response. To be able to understand the issue better, let us know more details by answering the following questions:

    • Can you tell us when the issue started?

    • Were there any changes made prior to this matter? Have you tried restarting the device?

    • Did you notice if there's an error code/message on the Surface Digitizer Integration from the Device Manager?

    • As for the detaching and reattaching the clipboard and the base keyboard, were there any errors as well?

    • What's the current Windows 10 OS Build and version of your Surface? To know this, type 'winver' on the Search bar/Cortana, then hit Enter. This will show the Windows build and version installed on Surface.

To help solve this issue, we suggest that you force the device to shut down and restart (performing a Forced Shutdown is like removing the battery from a laptop or unplugging a desktop PC. It resets the hardware and clears all the cache and memory for your hardware). You can check this link to get started.

If that doesn't work, please download and run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. It is a self-healing tool which looks for potential issues and fixes them, as well as ensures your device is completely up to date. The tool takes about 10-15 mins. to run. Once you run the toolkit, kindly follow the on-screen instructions.

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi,

So it started before 2-3 weeks. Everything was normal and than one evening I sit down to do some work and it started to be crazy.

I did the recovery, i deleted everything, i wrote to Microsoft chat and they did some kind of new windows instalation or so.

    Its a code 28.

The connection works well, when I press the button to disconnect the lid it disconnect, and when I connect it again its connected, this works fine, the problem is just that the surface do it by it self, disconnecting and connecting, every 3 seconds.

The win version is 1803 build 17134,286 win 10 pro. Sorry where can I see the surface version?

I did this a lot of times force shut down bcs he also freez some time when its connected with the keyboard. I also tryed the toolkit bcs the chat support told me but there was no errors.

Thanks for getting back to us. We apologize for the confusion about the 'version' we mentioned. To clarify, we are referring to the OS version that was installed in your Surface. Going back to your concern, it seems that there's a dirt accumulated on the Surface Book connectors since it takes 3 seconds to connect/attach. We recommend that you clean those connectors. Here's how:

    1. Disconnect any video adapters and USB devices such as printers, keyboards, and mice from your Surface Book and disconnect the power connector.
    2. Detach the keyboard from the Clipboard.
    3. Clean the connectors on the keyboard and the Clipboard with a soft cloth and a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
    4. Check for small metal objects the magnets on the keyboard or the Clipboard might have picked up. If you find something, remove it.
    5. Reattach the keyboard.

If cleaning the connectors doesn't suffice, have your Surface start in Safe Mode to isolate the issue. Then, you may proceed in performing a clean boot while in Safe Mode.

As for the Surface Digitizer Integration driver, you can download the .MSI file here. As for the right file to download, this may depend on the current OS Build and version of your Windows 10. For reference, you can check this file format: [SurfaceModel]_[WindowsVersion]_[MinimumBuildRequirement or current OS Build]_[DriverReleaseNumber]_[UploadNumber].[Extension].

Keep us posted on the outcome.

Thanks for the update. Before installing the .MSI file, were you able to perform a clean boot while in Safe Mode? How was it? By the way, is your Surface still in Safe Mode? To exit in Safe Mode, here's how:

    1. Press Windows + R key.
    2. Type "msconfig" and select "Boot" tab.
    3. Uncheck 'Safe boot' and select OK.
    4. Restart your Surface. Your device will boot in normal boot.

Also, we would like to know if there's an "Unknown Device" that was listed under the 'Other devices' section of the Device Manager? If so, try to uninstall it, then go the 'Action' menu and click 'Scan for hardware changes'. If the 'Scan for hardware changes' did not work, manually update the Surface Digitizer Integration by right-clicking on it then choose 'Update driver'.

As for the clipboard and base keyboard connection issue, let's try a different approach. Go to the Task Manager, click on the "Processes" tab, scroll down until you found the 'Surface DTX'. Right-click on it then, choose "End task". Once done, go to the File menu then click 'Run new task' and type "SurfaceDTX.exe" then hit OK. This should help solve the delay/disruptions when re-attaching the clipboard and base keyboard.

Let us know how it turns out.
