The machine type is capable, it is simply that the motherboard is fried.
Surface 3 will not post
Recently, I was given this old Surface 3 tablet. I was told it isn't in working condition, and that seems to prove correct. But, I can power it on. It won't show the boot screen, but I know it's on, because I can make it buzz with the home/windows button on the tablet. There's no USB power nor power to the keyboard that came with it, and I've confirmed the charger to work as well. I tried all the things you would typically find on the internet, the CMOS reset with the volume and power buttons, the freezer and CPR trick, I even held the power button down for 15 hours with rubber bands, as apparently my friend had success with that- No dice. Now I'll be honest, it's probably hardware failure at this point if all those didn't work. But, I'm posting here to ask what I should do to go about getting this tablet working, or just what I should do with it in general if I couldn't get it working? I think it'd be a nice machine to have around my house, as sort of an in-between from my phone and desktop computer, not to mention the previous owner may have files on there they need so I would like to get those off without going through the frankly painful process of taking it apart and harvesting the SSD. Any ideas, suggestions, help, it's all appreciated. Thanks :)
