Hei

I have an surface go, with windows 10 home in S mode and the latest utdates.

Lately the touce on the taskbar area have not been working, the pen acts as if the tasbare is a part of the bessel and not the screen. I tried troubleshooting, but had to stop that when i could not find the "Intel(R) Precise Touch Device" that they ask about in the manual. Any ideas on what to try next, or do i have to send it in for service ?

    Hi, SiriEggen!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn you have issues with your Surface Go's screen as it doesn't respond to your pen. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this. It seems that a part of your screen will not respond to touch. Does the same thing happen when you use your finger to touch the part of the taskbar? If yes, let's do the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

I believe you have restarted the device, please try to force shutdown your Surface Go and restart.

    1. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Microsoft logo.

If that doesn't work, here's how to make sure your Surface turns off completely:

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

Try to check if you can uninstall Intel Precise Touch device this time and also include the HID-Compliant Touch Screen driver and restart

    1. Open Device Manager. Make sure to click on View and select Hidden Devices.
    2. Locate and expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Expand Human Interface Devices. ****4. Right-click on HID-Compliant Touch Screen and select Uninstall. If there is more than one driver, uninstall those as well.
    4. Right-click on Intel(R) Precise Touch Device and select Uninstall.
    5. From the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes. You may also need to restart your device.

Check Surface UEFI and see if the issue is present. This is an environment outside Windows.

Once inside the Surface UEFI page, check if the affected part can recognize your touch using your finger and/or pen.

If the issue exists in UEFI, then we know it’s a hardware failure.

Kindly Contact Microsoft Support for replacement options. If you are outside the US, please check this page to know the number for your country in our list of Global Customer Service phone numbers.

We hope this helps you out, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

    Kind regards,
