Why can't I detach with simple apps running?

I'm finding that its too much of a hassle to detach the screen from my surface book because I have to resolve/close apps. However, its not like I'm running a GPU intensive game or something. I mean I know the nVidia card isn't stuffed into the LCD so I expect some limitations however not being able to detach when Mail, Store, and Facebook are running is ridiculous. I dont recall having this issue before. I did install the Anniversary update to windows 10 but rolled back because of the taskbar/freezing issues. Does anyone know if this is normal or perhaps a problem with the rollback?

In its current condition, how the heck does Microsoft expect the average user to know how to kill these apps? For example, mail isn't open. Neither is facebook. And Store? I don't even use it so not sure why it says its running. I'm trying to detach but it lists those 3 apps as needing to be killed.  So I have to go hunting and pecking in Task Manager to kill these processes since MS didn't include a way to kill those processes right from screen that pops up telling you to resolve/detach. I also have a feeling that if I were to shutdown Surface and as a result the apps get killed, I'd bet you ten bucks that I'll hear the screen eject.

I'm not sure why your configuration seems to have changed since the update; but, when I got my SB - in a fit of enthusiasm - I immediately went into the settings and made the dGPU the default for all applications.

This meant that I couldn't detach without closing down many running programs (and services).

Very quickly I changed the default back, and now only set dGPU for graphic intensive programs that I don't foresee wanting to detach when I am using them.
