Try the Troubleshooter in Control Panel first (Hardware). Then try Disable/reenable device. if still not working roll back driver if the option is available. If still bad Uninstall the device and reboot. Check in dev mgr to see if it is now ok. If missing "Scan for Hardware Changes" in Action menu.
HID 2IC driver
Today my surface pro 4 requested to install and restart (Firmware Update December 17 2015).
After these update from MIcrosoft today, one driver in the human interface resources does not work.
It is the HID I2C. See the attachment.
I tried to search for an update but the result is that the installed driver is already the latest one.
Any suggestion how to fix this
Thanks, regards

2016-01-17T11:26:29+00:00 Hi and thanks, your suggestion did solve the problem.
I tried troubleshooting first, from the Control Panel, but it simply found the problem, tried to re-install the driver (which I also previously tried) and confirmed the problem could not be solved.
Then I tried Disabling and ìthen Enabling again the HID I2C resource from the resource management in the control panel, and it did work.
By the way, this resource must have something to do with the display auto-brightness setting.
Thanks again!
