I have been using my surface for more than a year now and never thought of making a recovery drive just in case this happened. Now I have and error code 0xc0000001 that I cant fix by pressing F8. I have tried to find a recovery image for my surface but have had no luck. I have no idea what to do to get the image I need and feel like I have a piece of junk laying in my room. I have a usb drive need to do the recovery and all I need is the image. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

    Hello LCRT and Barb,

Thank you both for assisting the customer and pointing him to the right direction.

    Hi Sterling Miller,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Please try pressing and holding the power button for 15 seconds to make sure the device is fully shut down. Wait 10 second and turn it back on to see if you can go into Windows. If that does not work, please download a recovery image on our site to make a USB recovery drive and use this drive to do a refresh. Please note that this USB drive has to be in FAT32 format and at lease 8GB. You will also need to find your serial number andregister your Surface if you have not already done so.

    We hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Clare
