Can the colour of a surface pro be established from the serial number

We bought a surface pro 9 last year from John Lewis. The screen has become pixelated and a few other issues. we took out the extended warranty.

We were advised that the colour we ordered was not available and were supplied a green one instead of blue. accepted this as it was going to be in a black case. the invoice still states blue. we sent the device back to john lewis who are refusing to send it for repair stating it is not the device they sold us.

How can this be sorted out? Both microsoft and John lewis must be able to see from the box numbers and the device serial number what they supplied

Your help would be great fully received.

John Lewis say they can not track what microsoft supplies to them or who they supply it to!!!! The device was bought for Xavia's school work via the company I work for
