the hissing or static noise is all time Even when the tablet is off and it runs down the battery. crackling noise on first touch of screen every time

    I'm sorry to hear about the noise on your Surface device. Just to confirm few questions below:

    • When the device is off and the noise happens, is it connected to the charger?
    • What is the exact specifications of your Surface device?
    • Is the sound coming from the air vents of the device?

    Please perform the methods below:

    • Try to unplug the charger and see if the issue disappears.
    • Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check the settings for new Windows Update.
    • Run the System File Checker.
    • Install the drivers package manually.
    • Check the specific OS build of your Windows SettingsSystemAbout.
    • Download the driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro 7 and click download on the next page.
    • Please choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
    • After the download, runand installthe .msi then Restart the Surface Device

    No it is not connected to the charger. I have done all the updates. None of the driver and firmware downloads match my OS build (19044.1620) I chatted with someone last night I have a Case ##########, I did a reset still have issue. The noise is coming from the top left of tablet. Thanks william

    spoke again with the microsoft support and they determined i need a replacement tablet. so I have sent it back. thanks you for your help. William
