PROTOTYPE - NOT FOR RESALE device

Hello,

I have been searching for information related to the Microsoft devices which are inscribed "PROTOTYPE - NOT FOR RESALE".  I have found several threads regarding this, and in every one there are always multiple people who have the same question, and without fail, every single post gets a response from someone at Microsoft stating "XXXX, please check your private mail box for a message.  Thank you."

Microsoft,

This is absolutely no help to the larger community, many who have apparently stumbled upon such devices.  Only a *very small* tiny fraction of the readers of these forums actually feel like/have the time to/or take the initiative to sign in or create an account in order to post.

Can you please, state publicly, what your guys' response is to this, so we as a community at large can know what to do in this situation?

*smh*

You need to contact customer service via phone and the machine will have to be swapped out with another.  Prototypes are not supposed to be sold and right now, you have no warranty on that machine (it cannot be registered).

The private messages Microsoft sends out is the contact information for them to send their machines in.  Those contain information that cannot be posted here on the open forum.
