How long do I have from the point of "starting an order" (requesting a warranty replacement of faulty device) to send in my device?

Unfortunately, I'm in quite a tight situation as I just recently purchased a faulty refurbished surface pro 8 that has a plethora of thermal throttle, screen malfunction, and internal processing issues. I want to submit a warranty claim and get this exchanged with a (hopefully fully-functional) model but am limited in my time frame from when I still need this original device to get my coursework done, up until a week later when my new university semester starts. This leaves only a week-long gap for me to ship the device over and receive a new device back.
Because of this, I was wondering: how long from the point that I request an order do I have to send the device in (if I want to submit the claim ahead of time so I don't have to wait for processing of the request), and approximately how much time would it take to receive a new one at a different shipping address?

    Hi Nikolas!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're here to help and let's work on this together.

Regarding your query, from the day you have placed/submitted the order you will be given 30 calendar days to ship the device back to Microsoft for repair and standard shipping to receive the replacement device back will usually take 6-8 business days.

Thanks again for choosing Microsoft. Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    RodelioP.
