Hi,

I've recently started getting blue screen of death after recent windows updates,  I haven't installed any new software recently.

These are the two stop codes I get :

Stop code : ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NONEXECUTE_MEMORY

Stop code : SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

I am happy to provide any additional information that you may need to help me troubleshoot.

Thanks

Jignesh

    Hi Vicky,

    The same problem occurs with my SurfacePro4. In April there were some updates installed and since then the bluescreens are appearing.

    Version OS: Windows 10 Pro build 1709 version 16299.371

    Troubleshoot steps alreay performed:

    • Checked the memory (mdsched) found no errors;
    • System File check (SFC /Scannow) did not find any errors;
    • Disk check (CHKDSK from the disk properties);
    • Checked drivers for update, no updates needed;
    • Windows Update, no updates available;
    • Software update (GlaryUtils), no software needs to be updated.

    Forced shutdown and restart is also done, no luck.

    Do you have any advice what to do next?

    If some logging is needed, then I am willing to help.

    Cheers,

    Richard

    Hi Mark,

    I did find this answer and tried most of the options. Just finished with offline windows defender scan. Only thing I will not try is try fresh start... Since I use the surface for my study I don't want to loose any data or software.

    No new software is installed last months, except for Penbook installed from the windows market. Further only surface updates and windows updates are installed last week.

    After two or three cycles of Bluescreens where it starts with the following sequence:

    1st the stop code is: ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NONEXECUTE_MEMORY

    2nd Stop code: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION after a login attempt this stop code appears sometimes twice. When using the mouse (bluetooth Micrsoft mouse or the touchpad seems to help continuing the login procedure.

    Do you have any other suggestions for me to try?

    Kind regards,

    Richard

    Does the issue occur while your device is in safe mode? If the issue does not occur is safe mode, perform a clean boot. It is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. Click here on how to perform a clean boot.

    Also, have your tried to restore your device to an earlier point in time? This option takes your device back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app, driver, or Windows update, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

    1. Select the Start  button, type control paneland****then choose it from the list of results.
    2. Search Control Panel for Recovery.
    3. Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
    4. Choose the restore point related to the problematic app, driver, or update, and then select Next > Finish.

    Update is with the results.
