Magnetic charging connector loose

My surface 3 pro magnetic charging connector seems to be loose. I noticed this when it was connected for over an hour and then my surface died, after investigating, it was the magnetic charger piece that connects to the surface (problem is not at the wall or power block). now that its charging, if I move the connector slightly, I can see the white indicator light turning off and on which suggests that it is a loose connection.

Has anyone else had this? is there a way to correct this? I just don't want to have to be constantly checking if the indicator light is on or not.

Is the charger the original one which came with your Surface?  I ask because I recently bought what looked like a genuine charger, even in a genuine looking box, but I believe it was a fake because the quality of the gold contacts on the magnetic connector was poor and it had similar symptoms to what you describe.  The gold contacts should be perfectly spaced perfect rectangles. On my original charger and a used one I bought they are. The 'copy' had messy looking ones that would not make a good connection.

I have a 3rd party charger and sometimes it works and sometimes its not.  Try to clean the connector with a cloth.
