Surface Detach Hardware Failure Message, but everything works fine

I'm getting a "Surface Detach: Hardware Failure" message on my Surface Book 2, which says "General Failure: Please click here to troubleshoot" when I click the message. If I click the "click here" it takes me to a page that recommends I clean the three connectors with alcohol, which I did and still receive the error. Everything works fine as I can click the detach icon to disconnect and connect back, the graphic card in the keyboard works fine, and the keyboard and mouse pad work fine; everything seems to work as expected, so it's just a message.

I only cleaned the connectors at the keyboard, so I didn't clean the slits in the surface, since I figured those shouldn't get wet. Should I clean those as well?

    Hello Reynoldsed ,

We need to do some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue.

    • Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit . This tools will fix automatically the hidden issue of your Surface device.
    • Try check manually for updates. Go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Updates > Check for updates.

After, we will going to observe the device, if the issue is still there. Just in case if the issue is still there.

    • Next step is that we are going to do some Fresh Restart the Surface device. Go to Start > Settings > Update and Security > Windows Defender > Device performance and health.

Regarding the slit of the Surface do not clean only the keyboard port. ****

    Keep us posted the outcome.

    Regards,
