Surface Pro 3 Pen - How to extract broken tip?

The tip broke off my pen, and Microsoft graciously sent me 3 replacement tips. However, my original tip broke off deep inside the pen, and I am having difficulty extracting it. Any suggestions? Is the tip of the pen able to come apart? Thanks.

You may have to get a replacement pen itself.  I found a schematic of "a" pen from N-Trig which should match up with the design.

It looks like the tip cap is held in place by friction and may need a pair of pliers to grip and pull the tip off.  HOWEVER!  That could damage the sensor located just behind it.

    Here is the schematic:

I have a nibs that has broken off in my surface pen.  I have a replacement but can not get the remainder of the nibs out.  How do I remove the broken nibs?

Hi- I had the same problem on Friday. the tip broke off in the middle of a meeting while i was taking notes. YIKES!! i was devastated and did not want to mess with it too much and make it worst. I was looking online for a solution and found that I can make an appointment with the Microsoft store at the mall. Made an appointment of first thing Saturday and he went in the back use a twizzer, pull out the broken nip and replace it with a new. I am so relieved that I don't have to spend $50 for a new pen.

    Good luck! E

So, can anyone tell me how to open the pen and get the broken piece out? They have sent me the replacement tips with NO instructions.
