Two mouse pointers on screen one fixed in the top centre the other ghosts in and out

I have recently upgraded to Windows 11 on my SB-2 and have downloaded the most recent updates. I use a MS Arc Mouse. Approx a week ago I noticed that after the screen goes into sleep mode, when it comes back on again, there are two mouse pointers, one frozen and immobile in the top centre of the screen the second is just a line and only visible when I move the mouse. Also the track pad does not work. I have tried uninstalling the mouse drivers, and re booting the SB-2, re setting windows and a today I tried a hard boot completely wiping the hard drive and re installing windows 11 from scratch, but as soon as the c goes into sleep mode, when the screen comes back on the same problem arises.

Hi Chris at home , Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.I hope you're doing well today.I truly understand that you are having an issue with your mouse pointers, let's work on this together for us to fix the issue. I would like to ask make and model of your device?

Kindly follow the steps that could possibly fix the issue.

    1. First of all, you need to connect the device to the Windows 10 PC.
    2. Reboot your operating system.
    3. After the device starts you will need to press and hold the Windows button and the W button.
    4. In the search tab, write troubleshoot and press Enter.
    5. After the search has finished click on the View All button situated in the left panel.
    6. Next, search for and click on the Hardware and Devices option.
    7. From here, you will need to follow the instructions on the screen to complete the hardware troubleshooting steps.
    8. After the process has finished reboot the device.
    9. Check again if the mouse pointer speed discrepancy is still there.

We look forward to your response. If you have other clarifications about this matter, you can get back to us by replying to this post.Sincerely,FatimaMicrosoft Community

Thank you for your reply, but I sense you have not read my e original question.

I am using a Surface Book 2. The operating system is Windows 11 and being a MS lap top not a mobile device, I guess point 1 is not relevant for me. I have tried holding the Windows key and pressing W at the same time, but it just takes me to a web browser.

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated

    Kind regards

    Chris

    Hi Chris at home ,

    Good day !

Just to confirm , have you tried connecting different mouse? If yes, does it shows the same issue?

I would suggest to boot your device to UEFI .

You may have further information from this link How do I boot a Surface Laptop to the UEFI menu? - Microsoft Community

Have you tried downloading Microsoft mouse and keyboard center?

You may download it on Microsoft store , this could possibly fix the issue.

We look forward to your response. If you have other clarifications about this matter, you can get back to us by replying to this post.   Sincerely,FatimaMicrosoft Community

Thank you for following up Fatima

Unfortunately, none of the suggested fixes have worked. I have booted to UEFI and gone through the Troubleshooting menu and re set BIOS I have downloaded Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre, and have reset the Surface Book too. I still have the same problem, which is two mouse pointers, one fixed at the top of the screen and the second just ghosts in an out. The Track Pad does not work either. Every 50 or 60 reboots the mouse will work normally for a while, but as soon as the PC goes to sleep, when i move the mouse, it reverts to 2 mouse pointers and the PC is unusable

    Kind regards

    Chris
