Screen stuck in portrait mode

My surface pro 4 has been acting up lately where when I wake up the computer from sleep mode, my computer screen is in portrait instead of landscape. I can go into settings and rotate it back to landscape, but I have to do this every time I wake up my computer and it isn't remembering my settings.

Any suggestions?

remove the type cover and check the rotation lock settings. toggle on and off and then put your SP4 in landscape mode and turn rotation lock ON. re-attach the type cover.

does this solve the problem for you?

That did not help with the issue. When I unplugged the cover my screen orientation automatically switched to portrait mode, and toggling the rotation lock settings didn't change anything. It is also only a problem when I'm in google chrome. It switched to portrait mode in chrome and back to landscape when I opened the settings menu.

Your initial post didn't specify that this was an issue with a single app which

is what you seem to be saying. Can you verify this is the case? This would be a

    different issue.

It is mainly a problem when I'm signing in to the device and everything is flipped to portrait, but I have also noticed that sometimes there's only a problem when using Chrome vs other apps. I've tried restarting the laptop and that seems to help the chrome issue but not the original problem of everything being flipped

as a test, can you set up another user with admin privileges and see if there is

a problem in the new account? this will help diagnose a software issue.
