If it were me, I'd return for full refund and repurchase. Don't exchange.
Surface Pro 8 making low buzzing noise
I've recently purchased a Surface Pro 8 running Windows 11. I immediately noticed it's making a low buzzing noise at all times in normal use. The noise sounds similar to the buzzing of an old incandescent light bulb and is driving me a bit crazy. I've changed a bunch of settings and tried different 'experiments' to see if I could eliminate the noise. For instance the sound doesn't change when charging or running on battery and is unaffected by screen brightness, battery settings, bluetooth on / off ect. I also tried tilting the computer at different angles but no change. Through all this I've found the the sound does stop if I press and hold my finger on the screen as long as I keep pressing. It does the same if I hold down any key on the keyboard (except for the shift, esc, alt keys). The sound also stops while I'm logged out and at the sign in screen. Finally the sound stops if I run the machine in Safe Mode. This leads me to believe it's some process or component running while the machine is operating in Normal Mode.
Is anyone else hearing this sound? Should I return this to Microsoft as a defect? Or any suggestions how to address the issue?
