I want to keep my surface go 2 in tablet mode all the time but whenever I attached the keyboard it switches to desktop mode. How do lock it in tablet mode?

    Hi AaronBoydston,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Kindly open Windows Settings and navigate to System > Tablet mode then do these settings below:

Under When I sign in, select Use tablet mode

Under When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off, select Don't ask me and don't switch

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Marrion_Y,

thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Your suggestion sounds like it would do the trick, however, I do not see that settings under tablet, nor additional tablet settings. See attached screen shots. Any other ideas? Windows 20H2

    Thanks again,

    Aaron

    Hi AaronBoydston,

Thank you for the response and for providing the screenshots.

On the first screenshot, set When I sign in to Always use tablet mode. For the When I use this device as a tablet option, set it to Ask me before switching modes. In this way, every time you attach the keyboard, a pop-up message will appear on the lower-right corner of your screen asking if you want to switch mode. Just select No on the prompt.

Thanks, Marrion_Y. That's a great suggestion. I guess Windows cannot lock in tablet mode but preventing the switch with user input is better than it switching and then manually switching it back. It's one less step. Thanks.
