searching the web ive not see so much livid users.. so many complains.. no workaroudns.. since Creeatre updates.. all full of profanity.. so im just going to be civil iv vented , blew a disk and cant type.. i got disabled from thhis and also other attempts to consolitdate the bloat in windows..

all the product teams closed the bug.. is a windows bug. there must be a clever hook work aroud that using a message spy on the current window and converts the mesages to MS¡MOUSE MOVE or something.. How to use a pen as a mouse consistently for all text editors, say for drag and drop. Select, touch, hold, drag, lift. Just like a trackpad or mouse. When I fold this in tablet mode, it is all I need to at least edit text, move it around. Is there a workaround or an app or something that can pass the message as a mouse? It should work in the OS, and for drag and drop since that is a between-app operation. In short, it should just act as a mouse, optionally. Or is there a tiny customizable keyboard so I can select with a pen, cut, copy (send say Ctrl + C, or map buttons to keys) and then touch somewhere and paste? This should work between apps and is a setting. It should override any apps, even those that handle the pointer eating of messaging but don't do anything like Dev Studio or VSCode, last I checked. They all regressed, sometime after the community update regressed, and I don't see why; there are thousands of complaints. And the other text editors work: Notepad, Notepad++. With control for copy, though each has to implement it, it seems. Using a Surface Studio laptop with a one-button pen. Tried setting "allow to use as a mouse." It's folded, and I can't use it that way now for text editing if debugging or just annotating. The handwriting isn't working for that either, and can't circle, select, and move something. I don't really want to use inking or have a pop-up keyboard take half the screen. Tried everything; it's either too much, too complex, or doesn't work. Tons of loud complaints and no fixes. So much time wasted, so many attempts to work around it by launching apps that sense messages or the like, but to send mouse move WM_MOUSEMOVE would have to be done. Not in the software, but it should be in Windows, or the firmware, or a driver option, definitely a Windows problem, or a Surfpem/pen problem, or some code to block what used to work, I can't see why. Dev Studio has a "drag and drop text editing" that can't be off or on, and it doesn't work with a stylus. What a missed opportunity and infuriating regression. Some say it's a dealbreaker. The mouse and trackpad are not precise like the pen. The pen is great, voice access could be great; with a good mic, it works, but I would need to say copy or cut, then paste for a keyboard-free use. It's 2023...!! So my $2700 Surface is no better than a $700 desktop to be usable. It's killing my back. I can't move it around with all this keyboard and mouse. The keyboard on it gets so hot it's unusable.

    Hello Laurence222, '

Thank you so much for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you raising this concern to us, and I understand that you're experiencing issues with using your Surface pen as a mouse. Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature in Windows that allows you to use the pen as a mouse consistently for all text editors. Additionally, you can try adjusting your pen settings in the Surface app to see if that helps with your issue. If you continue to experience issues, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft live support for further assistance. You can reach them by following these steps:

    1. Go to Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    2. Choose how you would like to get support for your Surface device.3. Type in the problem you need help with.4. Look at any available solutions offered and select Contact Support. Here is a link you can check to know a detailed guide in reaching our live support: How to get Phone and Chat Support (for Surface Home/Consumer - Microsoft Community I wish you all the best and hoping you'll get a resolution there.Regards,Rolando S.
