    Actually that is incorrect. BMR is the downloadable recovery image that is

    available at  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage

    This is a Surface specific question and there are no Surface engineers or

    current Surface topics in TechNet.

    BMR recovery images are only available with the version of the OS sold with the

    Surface SKU. So folks with Surface Pro 3's can get Windows 8.1 and for Windows

    10, only Version 1511

    So for the Surface Book, Microsoft makes available the version(s) that came

    pre-installed at the factory.
