fn key is locked in Surface Laptop 2

The fn key on my Surface Laptop 2 is turned on and turns off when I press any key. The light is currently on. The function keys react normally, for example F1 still dims the display. But when I type the letter "n" this comes up: "n[" or "m" this comes up: "m]" If I hold down the fn button, all keys function normally.

I have already tried:

Restarting

Sticky Keys off

Esc + fn key

Caps + fn key

Thanks for the help!

    Hello, LordHalyn.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

I have noticed that you have been experiencing abnormal typing with your Surface Laptop 2 recently. At the same time, you have tried some Fn key combinations.

In this case, we need to confirm whether the problem stems from the device's driver or if there is some hardware issue with your keyboard.

Do you have a similar problem with your on-screen keyboard? If your on-screen keyboard is also experiencing anomalies, this suggests that there is some underlying issue with your driver. Please let us try to get the driver and firmware installer for Surface Laptop 2 manually:

Download Surface Laptop 2 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

After completing the download, restart your Surface to observe if the problem can be alleviated. If the problem stems from the driver, performing this method usually resolves it.

If the problem persists, it could be that the keyboard on your Surface Laptop 2 is failing in some way. Failures at the hardware level are often something we don't want to see, and I don't expect that to be the case. At this point I should recommend that you send your Surface Laptop 2 to the Surface support team for a hardware level service. Unfortunately, the Surface Laptop 2 has been discontinued worldwide and the Surface Support team is no longer able to support this model.

So, I'm hoping that this is a driver-originated failure. I understand that this Surface Laptop 2 means a lot to you, and I'm sure you must have loved your device very much for it to be with you today.

Anyway, I look forward to your test results and offer you as many ideas as possible based on your situation.

    Best Regards.
