It's stating updates are being installed, then it's said something has gone wrong? How can I get this to stop?

    Hello Angela,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you raising this concern to us and I understand that you're having issues with your Updates not going through. You got me here, well definitely sort this issue together. Before anything else, allow me to ask a question:

    • Is there a specific error showing when the updates had gone wrong?

For the meantime, please follow all these steps to solve the problem:

    1. Try to forced restart the computer by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds and release once Windows Logo appears on screen.
    2. Run Windows Update troubleshooter. Go to to settings >> system >> troubleshoot >> Other troubleshooter >> Next to Windows Update, select Run. Once done, restart the Surface.
    3. Make sure the date and time settings is correct. To check, go to settings >> Time and Language.
    4. Make sure that before trying to install updates, you've already charged the device to at least 40 percent.
    5. Run SDT. This will also check and install any updates available. Please refer to this link: Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Apps
    6. You may also try to download Drivers and Firmware: Download Surface Laptop 2 Drivers and Firmware. from Official Microsoft Download Center

Please try all of the above mentioned steps and let me know if this works for you. Hopefully this helps!

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.
