Hey there,

I'm trying to use my camera but getting the error 0xA00F4292 "PhotoCaptureStartTimeout".

Machine details:

MS Surface Pro 6 running Win11.

What's the problem:

  • I can't take photos
  • Camera is working for facial recognition to login
  • I can use the camera for video calls (Google Meets, Zoom etc)
  • When I open the camera app, both the front & back cameras show the correct image
  • When I press the button (touch screen) to take a photo, the button greys out then I get the error in about 5-7 seconds.

What have I done:

  • turned the computer on/off
  • checked for drivers using Device Manager, all up-to-date.
  • Used Powershell to uninstall/reinstall
  • Regedit: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform. Opened a new REG_DWORD called "Enable Frame Server Mode", set to 0 and 1 with no success

Anyway now I'm completely lost!

Cheers!
