Hi Landon,
Make sure that the Clipboard and keyboard are securely attached. Push the Clipboard down onto the keyboard with moderate pressure to attach the keyboard more securely, then clean the connectors.
- Clean the pins on the connector with a pencil eraser. Rub the eraser back and forth across the pins.
- Wet a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Clean the pins on the long, narrow part of the charger that you plug into your Surface. Rub the cotton swap back and forth across the pins. After you are done cleaning the connector pins, make sure that the pins are dry.
You may also try running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. This will run a series of tests on you device and automatically install any missing driver and firmware updates. Click here to learn how to run the toolkit. After running the toolkit, force shutdown and restart your device to ensure all updates are applied.
If running the toolkit didn't help, visit a Microsoft Store near you and have it checked by on of our personnel. Contact our Microsoft Support Team if you need further assistance. If you're outside the US, contact our Global Customer Service.
