Surface Book 2 thinks the screen is being detached whenever I tilt the screen

Every time I tilt my laptop screen, my laptop makes the detach screen noise and then the screen changes to tablet mode but then immediately realizes that the screen actually is attached and switches back to regular mode.  The screen does not actually try to detach when this happens, the computer simply thinks that it is detached and makes the noise and switches to tablet mode and then back.  I think it is also causing my laptop to overheat because sometimes when I close the screen to let it charge, it continues to make the detach and reattach noises and overworks the computer.

    Hi Landon,

Make sure that the Clipboard and keyboard are securely attached. Push the Clipboard down onto the keyboard with moderate pressure to attach the keyboard more securely, then clean the connectors.

    1. Clean the pins on the connector with a pencil eraser. Rub the eraser back and forth across the pins.
    2. Wet a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Clean the pins on the long, narrow part of the charger that you plug into your Surface. Rub the cotton swap back and forth across the pins. After you are done cleaning the connector pins, make sure that the pins are dry.

You may also try running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. This will run a series of tests on you device and automatically install any missing driver and firmware updates. Click here to learn how to run the toolkit. After running the toolkit, force shutdown and restart your device to ensure all updates are applied.

If running the toolkit didn't help, visit a Microsoft Store near you and have it checked by on of our personnel. Contact our Microsoft Support Team if you need further assistance. If you're outside the US, contact our Global Customer Service.

If you have additional questions, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.

I have cleaned the pins and it hasn't made a difference. The toolkit did not do anything either but the problem has been occurring less often now and doesn't seem to be messing anything up.

    4. Close Task Manager.
    5. Go to Start , and select Power > Restart to restart your Surface Book.

If that doesn't help, reset your Surface.
