Hi Kit,
Welcome to Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your school account. Here are some steps you could try to resolve the issue:
- Contact Your School's IT Support:
- Your first step should be to reach out to your school’s IT department. They should be able to help you understand why your account is disabled and guide you through reactivating it.
- Use the Microsoft Account:
- Since you have a Microsoft account linked to your Surface, you might be able to create a new user profile with that account. Here’s how:- Restart your Surface and, at the login screen, Click on the ‘Switch User’ option on the lock screen. This option is usually located at the bottom left corner of the screen. Clicking on it will show a list of all the user accounts available on the computer.- Enter your Microsoft account credentials.- If successful, you can set this up as a temporary solution while resolving the school account issue.
- Reset Your Surface:
- If nothing else works and you still have access to your Surface, you might consider resetting it to factory settings. This option will erase all data on the device, so ensure you have backups if possible. You can get to the reset option by restarting your Surface from the sign-in screen. Here’s how:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key + L. If you need to, dismiss the lock screen.
- Hold the Shift key down while you select Power > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen.
- After your Surface restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know. Your SincerelyHahn. W - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
