Type Cover Not Working On Surface Pro 4

Hi there everyone, since this afternoon my type cover suddenly stopped working and I have to say I've been quite anxious ever since. I've tried every possible method that i could find on the internet. Ive tried restarting the surface, reattaching the cover, cleaning the connections and resetting my surface pro 4 entirely, you name it. Obviously my keyboard never responds, i've also tried the volume power button method where the backlights appear, but once i've gotten to the log in page it just disappears. I desperately need to use my keyboard for work soon and would be more than happy receive any kind of help.

Cheers, Nikki

it is unclear if you tried a two button reset:

    1. Press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds and then release it.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button at the same time for at least 15 seconds and then release both.

The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons down for at least 15 seconds. 3. After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds. 4. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Surface logo.

if that does not work, can you try someone else's typecover on your SP4 and

    yours on theirs?

if you are in the US, go to a physical retail Microsoft Store and they will

    assist.

go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498 and download the latest MSI for your Surface. then delete the HID device above. then run the MSI installer and reboot. If that does not work, you can try a downloadable recovery image https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/warranty-service-and-recovery/downloadablerecoveryimage - and if that fails to resolve the issue, you need to contact support https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13948/global-customer-service-phone-numbers

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support you've lent me these past few weeks. It seems the issue for my type cover was a hardware problem and the Microsoft Support Team which I contacted for assistance have replaced the device with a full refund. But please be aware that a full refund can only be met if the type cover is still under a Microsoft warranty. To whoever that is reading this, I hope this reply is somewhat useful.

If this issue persists I recommend you to contact the Microsoft Support Team and request for a refund if your device is still under the warranty.
