Surface Pro 2 - TPM firmware update needed, yes or no?

Hi, Windows Defender Security Centre is telling me that I need to update the firmware for the TPM on my Surface Pro 2.

However, the following article does not list SP2 as a device that is going to receive an update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4073006/security-issue-for-tpm-on-surface-devices. Nor is it listed as a device that is not affected.

I ran a script and it implied that the TPM in my SP2 is made by Infineon.

Does my SP2 require an upgrade? If so, what do I need to do? What are the timescales if updated firmware is on the way?

    Hi Sean,

You are receiving this message because Microsoft is releasing Windows 10 security updates to address the vulnerability which you will need to download and install. If you have turned on automatic updates in Windows Update, you won’t need to take any action because the updates will be downloaded and installed automatically. If you have not turned on automatic updates, Microsoft recommends that you go to Windows Update immediately to check for updates and install the applicable updates manually. To learn more, see Windows Update: FAQ.

Meanwhile, we encourage you to submit your concern using the Feedback Hub. You can either vote on an existing submission or submit a new issue. Rest assured that our engineers will do necessary action to improve Microsoft products.

In order to submit new feedback, please follow these steps:

    1. On a Windows 10 device, search for “Feedback Hub” in Cortana search, then launch the app
    2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press + Add new feedback
    3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory
    4. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you’re done
    5. Once you’ve completed the form and monitoring, click Submit
    6. Click Continue using Feedback Hub
    7. Click My feedback at the top, then find the item you submitted (it may take a while to appear)
    8. Open the item you submitted, then click Share
    9. Click Copy link, then paste the link here in your response (it will look like https://aka.ms/ link>)

Your input will be highly appreciated.

    Regards.

I have the same issue as stated above.  It is quite obvious that the Surface Pro 2 is not listed as having an update available.  The question is, "do we DISMISS the warning in Defender or is there another solution to this TPM problem?????

How do I see the warning?  Is it only seen if you are using Bitlocker?  FWIW I do not use that.  Otherwise this verbiage may apply

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4046783/bitlocker-mitigation-plan-for-vulnerability-in-tpm

BTW how do we find out if the Surface 2 Pro is still supported?  FWIW I don't think it is.  But I can't find it listed under Microsoft Lifecycle, just rumors
