Slim pen not able to delete outlook emails (*easily)

When I am in outlook on my surface pro 8 I can use the touch pad to hover over an email in outlook and click the trach icon that shows up to delete a message. However, when I am using the slim pen and hover over the message when the curser is showing, the trashcan appears (as it should), but tapping the trashcan with the surface pen has no effect. Its pretty inconvenient to have to switch to the touch pad just to delete a message after reading it when you have been in a work flow with the pen. (I'm using windows 11, btw)

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

May I know which Surface Slim Pen are you using? Is it the 1st version or the Surface Slim Pen 2? See: Identify your Surface Pen and features (microsoft.com)

How about about when you do a tap and hold on the email you want to delete (instead of just hovering the pen) using the pen, does the options for a right-click comes up including the Delete option? Does this work?
