I just got the Surface Go and Surface Pen to take notes for school and have run into... Pen Jitter.

It makes everything l write look like l'm in some sort of horror movie. l have done all windows updates, updated drivers, and arguably the issue has gotten worse. I'm using OneNote from the WinStore.

If I can't find a solution, I'm going to have to return this. The Go is the newest model, why is it having this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

I couldn't agree with you more.  The Inking on the SGO is terrible. I get this little hooks when I write and it drives me crazy.  the inking on this device has taken a step back from the other devices.  We're now 4+ months since its release and it is still an issue.  I think it's time to abandon ship with this device.  Doesn't look like they are going to fix.

    Hi lovgloriagal,

We'd like to know more about the issue:

    1. Is your Surface Go is Windows 10 out of S-mode?
    2. What version of Surface Go are you using? (Wi-Fi or 4G LTE)
    3. Did you tried using another app if it has the same issue?

Here the things we suggest you do:

    • We suggest to run the Surface Diagnostic toolkit. It is a self-healing tool which looks for potential issues and fixes them, as well as ensures your device is completely up to date.

                 Windows 10 Home and Pro

                 Windows 10 in S-mode

    • Use the Surface app to set the pressure sensitivity to suit your writing style. The Surface app is free from the Microsoft Store. For more info, see Install and use the Surface App.

Let us know how it goes.

You might be charging the surface go while taking notes. I have encountered the issue and still encounter it when I try to use it while the surface go is charging but when I take it off charging it writes perfectly fine.

Same issue! Very annoyed as I can no longer return the Go even if I wanted to. Bestbuy has a 15 day return policy and every surface (~6 different models) I’ve ordered from the online microsoft store has had issues.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks. I did many google searches and could find no one else with a Go complaining of this issue. Your post miraculously showed up today.

WITHout a doubt, there is something wrong with the Go; both my old (2017) pen and the new one (just purchased yesterday, hoping the problem would be solved) work PERFECTLY on my Surface 3. With the Go, I either get the fish hook tail or lines that completely skip.

I had a Surface Pro 2 before the S3 and I never had any issue like this. I buy surface devices - surprise, suprise - to take notes and draw using the stylus. This is really pathetic, Microsoft. You market something to students and artists but can’t even produce a decent product? If anyone else produced 10” windows tablets with 8GB RAM, I would’ve stopped buying Surface devices a long time ago.

Same issue 2 weeks later, even after installing the new firmware update. Guess I’ll have to keep “BUMP”ing this post until it’s finally fixed...
