    Hi, micha_800!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn that you encounter an error when trying to install the Citrix Gateway Plug-in on your Surface Pro X.  This happens if the software is not compatible. Kindly check this page to view an article about the Surface Pro X app compatibility to learn more how installation works with apps on the device.

64-bit (x64) apps won’t work. You'll need 64-bit (ARM64) apps, 32-bit (ARM32) apps, or 32-bit (x86) apps. You can usually find 32-bit (x86) versions of apps, but some app developers only offer 64-bit (x64) apps.

I managed to check the Citrix website and encountered this page that mentions the Citrix Gateway plug-in System Requirements. It mentions there that it supports the Windows 10 (x86 and x64) Operating System.

Kindly check with the developer of the Citrix Gateway Plug-in if they are working on the availability for the ARM architecture so ARM-based PCs will work with their software.

We hope this helps you out, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

    Kind regards,

    Hi, micha_800!

The Citrix NetScaler Gateway Plug-in will not work on the Surface Pro X this time. The organization that develops the app determines whether their app will work on a Windows 10 ARM-based PC. Kindly check with the makers of the app if they have plans to make it available for ARM-based PCs in the near future.

I am truly sorry if this is not the answer you expected. The Surface Pro X has a processor which is Microsoft^®^ SQ1™, it is a custom ARM chip for the device different from the other devices in the Surface line. The main benefits for Windows 10 ARM-based PCs are the following:

    • Always be connected to the internet. With a cellular data connection, you can be online wherever you get a cellular signal—just like with your mobile phone. When you’re at work, home, or by another Wi-Fi network you trust, you can connect to Wi-Fi to save cellular data and keep working.
    • Battery life that goes beyond all-day. You'll use less power than you would with other PCs, so you can go through a typical work or school day without running out of battery or worrying about finding an outlet to plug into. If you want to use your PC for something more fun, you can play videos stored on your PC for many hours without charging your battery in between.
    • Turn on instantly. When you’re not using your PC, just press the power button like you do on your mobile phone to turn off the screen. When you take out your PC and turn it back on, it turns on instantly. Whenever you have a few minutes in between classes, meetings, or other activities, you can get things done without waiting for your PC to start.

I would like to thank you for providing us the opportunity to  help you out.

    Respectfully,

    Janette_Z

same here where i have the same problem AFTER i purchased the Pro X. i think also from MS side this can be explained better since most user / purchasers of the Pro X shall presumably be businesses with similar vpn logins.

you don't expect these situations when buying such an advanced 2-in1 computer / tablet in the top range and honestly such a simple answer waving your responsibilities, MS designed the processor. Don't get me wrong, its a great device but this really is disappointing.
