Surface 2 Slim Pen is always disconnected, and not charging when it's in the charging tray.

When it is charging, I can see the percentage changing in the Bluetooth section but no indicator shows it is charging, the light is not on or blinking, and the battery symbol from the Bluetooth section didn't show a charging symbol as well.

I tried all the solutions from other posts, to reboot the pen, to detach the keyboard, and to restart the Surface Pro, but none of those actually worked. It is frustrating, the entire set of the Surface Pro is fairly new, 2 months old, so no dirt in the charging tray.

One thing I've noticed, the pen is disconnected when it is in the charging tray, but when I pick it up and use it, it will connect automatically.

    Hello, BlueSky_BB123.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

If your Surface Slim Pen 2 is not charging in the charging slot of the keyboard, and you've verified that there is no dirt in the keyboard connection or the charging slot, then the problem may be originating from the driver and the hardware itself.

At the same time, I really appreciate the attempts you have made and that is part of what we can get right for you.

Next, then, please try to continue troubleshooting the driver issue, as some driver failures may cause the charging function to fail. You can try to get the driver and firmware installer for Surface Pro 11 manually:

Download Surface Pro 11th Edition Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

Please reboot your device after the download is complete to apply the driver update. The above steps usually work if the problem stems from the driver.

If your pen is still not charging, it is necessary to consider whether this is a hardware issue with the pen or keyboard.

In fact we have an easy way to determine where the problem is originating from. If you have an additional pen or keyboard device, this can help us determine this more intuitively by testing it with different hardware.

Considering you don't necessarily have such hardware, I would recommend getting in touch with the Surface Support team and getting more efficient hardware service.

I share with you the steps to create a service order here:

Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:

    1. Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
    2. Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "Surface Slim Pen won't charge", and then press Enter.
    3. Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
    4. Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
    5. You will see "Chat support" and "Phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.

I wish you all the best.

    Best Regards.
