External monitor drops wifi?

Hi,

I have a surface pro 4 and the new surface dock.

The WiFi has been working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago, when I noticed that every time I connect it to the dock, the WiFi doesn't really work.

The icon in the taskbar looks alright, as well the connection to the WiFi itself ("Connected, secured"), but no internet at all really - pages don't load, can't access cloud etc...

It looks like something with the external monitor or its mDP-DP cable which I'm using - whenever it's detached everything is working properly.

It happens whether it's connected through the dock or directly to the surface.

I don't have other cables/monitors to help me put a finger on the exact source of the problem, but since I didn't have this problem previously I guess it's not 100% hardware problem and more of a firmware thing?

Does someone has a clue what can be done to solve it? Is it a known issue?

when this happens again try disconnecting the dock from the surface, and plugging it in again, but upside-down! Im serious.

When connecting the dock to my surface, if the connector is plugged onto the surface with the wire facing down, wifi doesnt work, but wire facing up and the wifi works!

fantastically funny issue for a 1700 euro device to have! Funny if it wasnt completely infuriating.

I have the same issue and it is even when I connect an external monitor directly to the mini display port (with a dvi adapter) on the device without the docking station.

WIFI drops immediately. After disconnecting the monitor, the wireless connection works again.

Same issue, have tested it on 3 Surface Pro 4's, all the same. As soon as I attach a displayport cable the WiFi connection gets massive packet loss. VGA adapter doesn't have the same issue.

I have now tried two Surface 4 Pro's and have had the same problem on both. As soon as a 4K display is attached directly via a mDP - DP cable, the WiFi password is not recognized. I did contact Microsoft help desk and was told that there was no known issue with this type of setup and that it must be an earth in my cable. I purchased a new cable from a different cable manufacturer and have had the same problem. (My setup also has a USB3 hub for keyboard and mouse.)

Clearly there is a serious issue with the surface 4 pro which has yet to be addressed.

Same issue, have tried several different cables (active and passive), anything going to the "Digital" inputs of the monitor - Display Port, DVI or HDMI creates massive packet loss on the WiFi making it completely unusable. If i connect via Mini-DP to VGA (Analog) everything is fine. Only solutions when using the external display is to also attach a USB Ethernet card, which takes up the only USB port.

Only with this monitor, everything else is fine, but obviously I don't want to buy a new monitor that every other laptop works fine with. Monitor is a Dell 2408 WFP.
