Surface laptop 3 keyboard and trackpad not working

I wiped out my surface laptop 3 model 1867 and put a fresh clean legit copy of Windows on it but the keyboard and trackpad don't work.

When I go into the hire your friends so bios/uefi mode in startup both work fine

I've read in other forms that this is something intentionally done by Microsoft to force users to use the image made specifically for this laptop.

But I know there must be a workaround to get both a keyboard and trackpad working.

If you use a retail image of windows instead of recovery image supplied for Surface laptops, your keyboard and touch pad will not work while install progress. Because retail windows images does not have device drivers for laptop keyboard and touch pad.

Fortunately, if you have some kind of usb hub, you can connect tethered keyboard and mouse to the hub. I was able to use keyboard and mouse when I had same problem.

    I hope it will help.
