Surface laptop screen does not support pinch to zoom with fingers after the new update.  Not sure if Microsoft does not support this feature or not. I can still use my finger to scroll up and down on the screen but cannot pinch to zoom.  the only way to pinch to zoom is by using the trackpad.  If there is a solution to this, please help!  Would love to have the screen pinch zoom feature back!

Try this instructions from the following on another thread. It worked after uninstalling those two.

Ok.  I was able to fix this issue by uninstalling both the "HID-compliant touch screen" and "Intel(R) Precise Touch Device" devices in the Device Manager, then rebooting.

My Surface Laptop touch screen has stopped zooming (pinch to zoom) even though the option is enabled in Device Manager.  I have tried uninstalling the device and rebooting but the pinch to zoom still does not work.  This seems to be after a recent firmware update which was installed a couple of days ago.  The screen stopped zooming only just now even though it was working immediately after the firmware update.

I have compared settings with those of my Surface Book and they are identical.

The touch screen still works - I can click on web links etc by touching the screen - it's just the pinch to zoom that has stopped working.

    Hello MartinJaggard,

Thank you for reaching out Surface Community. Can you go back to Device Manager, expand Human Interface Devices, right click Intel Precise Touch Driver, click Uninstall (Note: If prompted with a checkbox stating "Delete the driver software for this device", leave it unchecked then hit Uninstall.) Once done restart the device to reinstall the driver and test pinch to zoom. If issue persist, please try to do a force shutdown. Performing this is like removing the battery from a laptop or unplugging a desktop PC. It resets the hardware and clears all the cache and memory for your hardware.

    • Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10 seconds), then release the power button.
    • Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Microsoft logo.

If that doesn't work, here's how to make sure your Surface turns off completely:

    • Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (this takes about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

If this works, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

    Regards,

    Hi,

I tried this previously and it doesn't fix the problem.

I noticed that at least one other person is getting the same issue since they applied an update to their device (they posted on here a day or so earlier than I did).

I am thinking this is the firmware update that has caused the issue.  I previously had an issue with a Surface Pro 4 that was broken due to a firmware update (keyboard not recognised).  Luckily my Surface Laptop is still covered by a warranty so I can get it replaced or fixed (unlikely until the firmware is corrected).  I wasn't so lucky with my Pro 4...
