    Hello, Jing H.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

After reading what you posted, I understand that you would like to install the microphone driver for your Surface Laptop 4. I will share the following information with you:

We can head over to the driver download link to get the driver and firmware installer for Surface Laptop 4, which will help troubleshoot potential driver issues and maintain device performance:

Surface Laptop 4 with Intel Processor https://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=102924
Surface Laptop 4 with AMD Processor https://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=102923

You will select the corresponding download link based on your CPU model.

Once the download is complete, please reboot your device to apply the driver update.

If you found the information I shared with you helpful, you can click “Yes” or “No” at the bottom of the reply to express your opinion.

Thank you for your support and interest in the Microsoft community.

I wish you all the best.

    Best Regards.

    Thank you for your reply.

Typically installing the driver directly is the simpler solution, but if that doesn't work, I will continue to assist you in your investigation.

It is also possible that our UEFI setup fails to enable the microphone option and that the hardware associated with the microphone array is damaged.

We will check the UEFI settings:

You can adjust the UEFI settings only during system startup. To load the UEFI firmware settings menu:

    1. Shut down your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's off.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.
    3. The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-up button. Release the button when the UEFI screen appears.

In the UEFI interface, please check the Devices page to see if the microphone related options are turned on:

If we are able to confirm that the microphone option is turned on in the UEFI interface, but are still unable to properly locate the relevant driver for the microphone, we will continue to investigate the hardware issue.

Since I'm not around to assist you directly with hardware troubleshooting at this time, I recommend that you get in touch with the Surface Technical Support team and send the device to them for hardware service.

I will share with you the process for creating a service order:

Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:

    1. Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
    2. Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "Microphone issue", and then press Enter.
    3. Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
    4. Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
    5. You will see "Chat support" and "phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.

I wish you all the best.

    Best Regards.
