SP 4 and Bluetooth Connectivity

I have tried repeatedly to get my Surface Pro 4 to connect to two Bluetooth devices - a Bose Sound Link Mini, and a Tivoli Music System 3. The devices "pair" but even when you "connect" them by right-clicking the volume control and selecting "Playback Devices" nothing happens. I tried disconnecting the built-in speakers but that just turned them off and there was no sound at all, even though each device showed as "connected" and had been set as the default device.

I have also tried switching out the Marvell driver and using the generic Windows 10 driver, but it makes no difference either.

My iPhone works flawlessly with both devices, which suggests the roblem is with the SP 4.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this are appreciated.

Have you tried the Troubleshooter in Control Panel?

    Hi ICWVan.

You can connect external USB speakers, headphones or a headset to the full-size USB port. To find out how, see Connect a USB mouse, printer, and more.

Or go wireless by using Bluetooth headphones or speakers with your Surface. To find out how, see Add a Bluetooth device.

To get the best sound from USB or Bluetooth speakers, turn up the volume on your Surface and in the app (if it has its own sound control), and then adjust the volume on the external USB or Bluetooth speakers.

    Set the default audio device

Step 1: Select the search box in the bottom-left corner of the screen, enter sound, and in the search results, select Change system sounds.
Step 2: Do either or both of the following:

Select the Playback tab, select the device you want to use for playback (for example, the built-in speakers on Surface, external speakers, or a headset), and select
Set Default.

Select the Recording tab, select the device you want to use for recording (for example, the built-in mic or an external mic), and select
Set Default.

Step 3: After you've selected your default devices, select OK.

    Regards,

    Erwin Nga

Thanks to both of you for your responses.

I had tried the troubleshooter before and it didn't work. I also downloaded the Microsoft troubleshooter with the same result.

I have gone through the Bluetooth setup numerous times, removed both devices restarted etc, to no avail. The SP 4 will actually "pair" with the devices initially, shows that on the Bluetooth page in Settings>Devices>Bluetooth that they have been paired. However, when I go to play music it won't "connect" with them - if you read the not so helpful Microsoft pages, they tell you to right click on the on the speaker on the task bar, which allows you to open up "Playback Devices". The Devices are shown, but the internal speakers are shown as the default and when you click on "connect" on either Bluetooth device nothing happens.

Nothing happens when I click "Connect" - the internal speakers remain as the default device.
