I am looking to purchase a new Surface Book 3 and utilize the tablet portion often. Can you use the tablet only, from  Surface Book 3, connected via Surface Connect to a Surface Dock 2 to connect to an external monitor/external usb disk etc??

Thank you

Andrew

    Hi AndrewDodd3,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.

Based on the device tech specifications from this link >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/devices/surface-book-3/tech-specs, the Surface Book 3 has 2x Surface Connect ports (one on base, one on tablet). Therefore, you can use this a tablet with the Surface connect while extending its display using a Surface Dock 2. You can utilize the USB-C ports of the Surface dock 2 to get your Surface device display extended to external monitors.
