Hi there,

I have a Surface Pro 3, and today when I went to turn my music up with the external volume button, narrator turns on.

I checked my settings, narrator is set to be off. It is continuing to do this!

It sounds like your Windows key is stuck.

Windows key + Volume Up is the keyboard shortcut to turn on Narrator. (Windows key + Enter turns it off again).

I tried this and the narrator still comes up.  Any other suggestions?

Caps Lock + Esc also turns off the Narrator.

If it is coming on with every use of the volume up control, your Surface believes you are touching the Windows key on the bezel. That may mean it is physically stuck or that something is defective.

So now what?  I've disabled Narrator but the volume button only controls volume when the Windows button on the tablet is held down.  I've checked the Windows button on the full touchscreen and it is not stuck.  Not is the Windows button on the keyboard stuck.  How do I get my volume button back?  Two week old Surface.

Uninstall all of the keyboards from device manager. Make sure that you show all hidden devices and remove ALL keyboards. Then a quick reboot and you are good to go.
