Hello, BB173838849383.
Welcome to Microsoft Community!
I noticed that your Surface Book 2 is currently experiencing black screen issues. You have actually tried many of the correct startup methods, such as a forced reboot:
- Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
Based on the performance of the LEDs, the battery still seems to be working fine. As you say, the problem may stem from the screen.
And the way to boot via power and volume buttons is actually a step into the UEFI setup.UEFI is a hardware based operation page, independent of Windows system, so UEFI can help us to confirm whether the problem is hardware related or not.
I am not sure how you are booting through the buttons, allow me to share with you here the steps to boot UEFI properly:
- Shut down your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's off.
- Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.
- The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-up button. Release the button when the UEFI screen appears.
If you still have access to the UEFI setup, that's lucky. Perhaps you can also try a few more forced reboots to access the system.
Manually install the driver and firmware installer for Surface Book 2 to troubleshoot unknown driver or system issues, if you have the operating conditions to do so:
Download Surface Book 2 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center
If we can't even access the UEFI, then this can indicate that the screen has failed to light up.
For Surface devices with hardware failures, Community Support typically advises users to contact the Surface Technical Support team for valid hardware service.
Unfortunately, the Surface Book 2 has been discontinued globally in 2024 and Microsoft has stopped servicing it out of warranty. We cannot hide this fact from you.
The Community Support team is not affiliated with Microsoft and we are only responsible for answering user questions and providing appropriate information.
For security reasons, we are also not allowed to recommend users to repair devices by their own.
Perhaps purchasing a new piece of equipment in the new year can bring more convenience and possibilities to your life and work.
We respect any of your thoughts and choices.
If you would like to consider a new Surface device, you can visit the following sites to learn about promotions:

These are all the possibilities I can think of at this point.
Thank you for your interest and understanding of the Microsoft community.
Best Regards.
