Hello everyone,

So I have a few Customers who wants to deactivate that the Surface Book autostarts when lid is open (after Shutdown, not in sleep state). I've managed to show the option in the power option and its deactivated but the Surfaces keeps starting when the lid opens.

  • Edited Power-Settings --> Lid open action / faststart = no change
  • Check System files --> sfc scan = no corrupted files = no change
  • Hard reset = no changes

I dont know why but after a houre of research I tought that the "lid open action" will be the solution but it doesnt has any influence to the problem...

    Hi Peter66UU,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you'd like to use your preferable settings on how you'd like to the Surface device to start.

    • When the device is turned off, did they go to Start > Shutdown?
    • Does this also happen when the charger is connected?
    • What is the installed Windows version on the Surface device?

Try to also perform the methods below:

    • Check the settings for new Windows updates.
    • Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit..
    • Install the drivers package manually.
    • Check the specific OS build of your Windows SettingsSystemAbout.
    • Download the driver and firmware for Surface, choose the Surface device and click download on the next page.
    • Please choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
    • After the download, runand installthe .msi then Restart the Surface Device
    • Run the Power Troubleshooter. Go to settings > system > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshoot > Look for Power > Click Run. > Follow on-screen instructions and wait for the result.
    • Check the Advanced power settings. Go to Control Panel > Power options > select Change plan settings > click on Change advanced power settings > Expand the Power buttons and lid option.

Let me know how this goes.
