Battery Life of Surface Pro 6

Hi,

I bought Surface Pro 6 in Jan 2020. Online and during my purchase process, I got to know that it has a battery life of around 9 hours. Even the sales guy from the outlet I bought actually vouched around 8 to 9 hours.

Sadly it doesn't last more than 3:45 min to max 4 hour. That too I have set 'battery saver mode' when charge falls below 50%.

Is this normal and typically all advertisements and the Sales people exaggerated during the sales process.?

or

Is there something wrong with the battery in my product?

PS: My computer 'system updates' and all drivers are 'updated and latest'. I did those windows update after reading some tips in this forum. Still no change in the battery life.

Looking for some support here.

Regards

Partha

    Hi Royspartha,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

May I know what applications do you usually use or run on your Surface Pro 6?

Can you please run a battery report on the device and if possible to share it with us here? You can run a battery report by doing these steps:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator then type this command below and hit Enter. It will then provide you with the location where the battery report was saved.

    powercfg /batteryreport

For now, please try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

2: Uninstall/Re-install battery driver(in doing this, make sure the device is plugged in)

Open Device Manager > expand Batteries

Right-click Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Batteryand choose Uninstall device

                Restart Surface

    3: Update drivers and firmware

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro 6 then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

    Hi,

I tried all of that. Ran the battery report which which says an average of 4:30 min.

After doing all the firmware upgrades and install as suggested, I tested yesterday. From 100% charge, it came down to 10% after 4 hr 20 min of running.

    What do I do now??

    Regards
