Is my new Surface Laptop 4 compatible with a Surface Dock I purchased to use with a previous Surface Laptop i5 about 4 years ago, or should I purchase a new dock?

    Hi Domenic Lo Bianco,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Yes, it is compatible. Please check this link Identify your Surface Dock and features (microsoft.com) for more details. You can also utilize this link Troubleshoot connecting Surface to a second screen (microsoft.com) to be guided in extending displays to external monitors.

Thank you Lavenia. It's good to know they're compatible.

I wasn't sure because the connector from the Doc into the Surface Connect Port isn't a smooth and easy connection. I have to jiggle it to get it to slot in. Is that normal or should I be concerned?

    Rgds

No its not, possibly there might be dirt or debris on the connectors that prevents the cable from seating properly. Wipe the pins with a micro fiber cloth. This this happens on both Surface devices?

Not as pronounced on the old one. Maybe it just needs to bed in??

Probably the device might need to be sitting in for it to function properly.
