I have one of the early Microsoft Surface Tablets, it is a Surface RT I believe, The warranty ended in late 2017 and the power supply charger does not work. I tried to order one from Microsoft Support and the order system cam back and told me that it is not available any more. This renders my tablet totally useless. Is there another way to charge it?

2020-10-19T03:26:09+00:00 Amazon has plenty of chargers for the surface RT. Also worth checking is EBay. Thee is no shortage of these. They're fairly cheap ~ $ 24.
The Microsoft Store has hundreds of apps. Most are free. You'll have more apps available, if you update to 8.1 operating system. It's free. Computer has Word, Excel , Power Point, Office built-in! And apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc. Good screen for movies. Do some research. Great for kids, no worries. Good Luck !
