    Hi SoumerDaghastani,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear about noise on the fan when using the device.

The fan of the Surface devices are equipped to adjust it's fan speed to stabilize the temperature of the CPU and to perform on it's best performance while the device is performing many tasks or is heavily utilized on a single task.

    • If the device is being used on a soft or loose surface like a couch, pillow, bed, blanket, or lap, the fan may come on more often or spin more quickly. Using the device on a hard, flat surface like a tabletop or desk that is free of obstructions is best for keeping the CPU cool.
    • If the device is used to a warm environment, the fan will need to come on more often or spin more quickly to keep the CPU cool.
    • You can also adjust on how you want your CPU to perform, by selecting the battery icon on the task bar and adjusting the power mode. Setting the power mode to Recommended throttles the CPU and helps keep it running cooler with less need of assisted cooling. While a setting of Better performance or Best performance will allow the device to run more quickly, it will also allow the fan to come on more often to keep the CPU cool and performing it's best.

    -  View the CPU utilization, check Task Manager:

    1. In the Search box, type Task Manager, and open that app.
    2. Select More details, if necessary, to expand the window
    3. Select CPU to sort the tasks running by their CPU utilization.

The processes listed with high utilization are contributing to the need for the fan to turn on. Being mindful of what needs to be running, closing apps that are not needed will help lower CPU utilization and reduce the need for assisted cooling by the fan.

Additionally, operation of the fan is normal and expected, should you hear any abnormal sound or noises like whining or tickling please reach out to the Customer Support and get your device replaced.

    Hello,

I merely use basic software on my laptop (office word and internet browser) yet when the computer is plugged to power the fan is always working and making disturbing sound.

I don’t use the laptop on loose or soft surface. I have a laptop raiser which should have an appropriate surface not to make the device temperature go up.

The CPU utilisation is alway set to Recommended but the does not make any difference.

It is not normal to have a noisy fan. I have another Lenovo laptop which i use in a very similar manner and does not make any noise despite its old age.

I have never had a laptop that has a noisy fan. This is abnormal and i only bought the device 6 months ago.

I have tried to get through to costumer service but the way to do so is hidden and unclear.

    Do you have any advice?
