Surface Pen not writing properly, everything else seems fine.

I've had my Surface Pen for less than a month. Everything was working very well up until a week or two ago, when suddenly it stopped writing properly - I write normally, but the ink takes a full minute or more to process what I've written onto the screen, and it stretches and moves in strange patterns while doing it until it eventually settles into the correct handwriting.

I'm using it on a Surface Go, I don't know if it is a pen or a device issue. I looked through all the diagnostic tools, ensured all the relevant drivers are up-to-date, unpaired and paired the pen several times, restarted both the pen and device multiple times. No change.

So far I am also unimpressed by the lack of service available. It says that no employee is available through chat, even though I am definitely within the hours of service, and there is nothing saying why this is.

    Hi Greystoke124,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

The issue could either on the Pen or on the Touch driver. We suggest the following to troubleshoot the issue:

    • Reseat the pen tip, and test on the app.

    • Reseat the AAAA battery in the pen, and test on the app.

    • Open Device Manager then go to Human Interface Devices > look for "Uninstall HID-Compliant Touch Screen" > Right-click on HID-Compliant Touch Screen > Uninstall (if you're seeing two HID Compliant Touch Screen, Uninstall the two drivers).

    • Under Human Interface Device, Right-click on Intel(R) Precise Touch Device and select Uninstall.

    • After uninstalling the drivers, make sure to Restart the device to give the drivers a refresh.

    • Try using a different writing or drawing app to test the pen.

    • Adjust the Pen pressure sensitivity opening the Surface App on the search box and select Pen.

    • Recalibrate the touch point of your pen by going to the Search box > Search for Calibrate the screen for pen or touch point > Calibrate then test the pen.

Please let us know about the issue by replying on this thread.

    Kind regards,

    John Neil_J
