Can the Microsoft Surface Tablet screen rotate?

I may be misremembering as I've had several Surface products including the Surface Book (and that's the one I may be thinking of). I haven't used the Surface Laptop in a very long while and only dug it out the other day as I needed more screen real-estate than what the Surface Tablet provided.

However, in my mind I could have sworn that the Surface Laptop (1st gen) screen could "swivel around" and be used as a tablet like device, or is it just like a regular laptop screen that opens and closes like a clamshell and does nothing more?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Duncan2018,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, you would like to confirm if the Surface Laptop 1stgen screen can be folded all the way back and use it as a tablet, correct? If yes, unlike the Surface Book series where you are able to detach the screen then connect it backwards and fold to keyboard (How to switch between modes on Surface Book - Microsoft Support), the Surface Laptop 1stgen is not capable of this. The Surface Laptop is basically just like a normal laptop where you can just open and close the lid. See: Surface Laptop (1st Gen) specs and features - Microsoft Support

    Kind regards,
    Marrion

Yes, this is the first generation Surface laptop. So the screen doesn't do anything special?

    Hi Duncan2018,

Yes, the Surface Laptop is just like any other normal laptop. You won't be able to detach the screen or fold it all the way to the back of the keyboard and use it as a tablet.

    Kind regards,

    Marrion
