I can no longer rotate screen with keyboard shortcuts.

I have found a few days ago on my Surface Pro 7 that I can no longer rotate the screen using the hotkey shortcuts. I have found this very tedious as the screen often ends up locked in the wrong orientation when I open the keyboard accessory and have to go through six steps just to fix it when I sued to be able to press CTRL + ALT + Up Arrow. I reinstalled the graphics driver and Intel command center to no avail.

    Hi JohnJurasic,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Allow me to ask few questions to help us further isolate the issue.

    • May I know what version of Windows are you on? And its build version?
    • Were there any changes made prior to this issue happening?
    • May I know what are the six steps you've done that temporarily fix the issue?

For the meantime, kindly run the following steps below to troubleshoot your device.

Detach and reattach the Type Cover.

    1. Unplug your Surface and detach the Cover.
    2. Make sure there's no debris, damage or anything that may inhibit a connection.
    3. Re-attach the Cover, making sure that all the magnets touch the bottom edge of your Surface.

Force the device to shut down and restart.

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows updates including optional updates available.

See: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (microsoft.com)

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
