Tax Invoice for purchase made in Australia

I bought a Surface Pro 7 a week ago and need an official tax invoice.

I got in contact with customer service and was on the phone for nearly an hour. Cannot believe they did not know what a tax invoice is!!

I told them I need an official receipt with the merchant's name, my name as customer, the goods bought and the price. They sent me an email showing the items purchased but no other details.

Can someone please help? Items I have bought from the Apple Store automatically send me a tax invoice by email.

This is my very first Microsoft purchase and this experience is very off putting :(

Thanks

MW

    Hi, MWARCILLA!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We understand you wish to get a tax invoice of the Surface Pro 7 you purchased. We deeply apologize for the troubles you have to go through. This is not the experience we want you to have. We thank you for taking the time to let us know about this and allowing us to help you out here.

Any purchases made online through Microsoft.com will have its official receipt stored in the Microsoft Account signed in to complete the transaction. All purchase history can be found at Microsoft Account Order History page. You just refine the search to show all types of purchases that are in progress, returned/refunded, digital, and physical. There is also a filter when the purchase was made: past 3 months, past 6 months, past year, and all available. It will look like this image below:

Once you find the order to its right, you just click on ORDER DETAIL.

It will show you the Order number, item purchased, date of purchase, payment method used, status of the purchase (completed/declined/refunded), billing address, subtotal, tax, and total. Under the date, there is an option to print it. On my end, I am able to see those information and the option to print the official receipt to my printer and also save it as PDF.

We hope this guides you on how to obtain the copy of the proof-of-purchase that contains the tax included with the purchase you made. If this answers your question, please let our Community know by marking this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Janette

    Thanks for your reply

I have printed that pdf with the order details but here in Australia we need merchant details including ABN to make it a proper tax invoice.

Is it possible for that to be reflected in the invoice so I can claim a rebate on this product from our side?

    Thanks

    Maria

    You're welcome, MWARCILLA!

I am afraid that the official receipt from the link I shared is the only one available online.

As for your request, it would be best to check with either the Microsoft Store Support Team or the Account and Billing Team for this since they're the ones who'd be able to assist you with the order made online should there be a need for additional information regarding the receipt specifically for rebate claims on the purchase you made.

Kindly check this page to know the number for Australia in our list of Global Customer Service phone numbers.  Is this the number you called? Make sure to get in touch with the Microsoft Store Team or the Billing department.

We hope this helps you out!

    Regards,

    Janette_Z

    Hi Janette

    Thank you for your email.

This is a ridiculously complicated and convoluted process just to get a tax invoice!

I cannot believe I have to go through all this when Apple readily sends out a tax invoice with ANY purchase and it gets to my inbox as soon as I purchase from their online store!

One of the many reasons I will rethink any Microsoft purchase in the future :(

    Regards

    Maria
