Can't detach surface when screen reversed

When I attach my Surface Bok 2 backwards on the keyboard (presentation mode), the tablet portion registers this as charging and not as presentation mode. As a result, the detach button on the keyboard does not work in this mode. It does not turn green or red. This results in the tablet being stuck backwards on the keyboard unless I manually remove it using a paperclip in the vent holes. How can I fix this?

    Hi, BrandenW!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn you have issues with your Surface Book 2 when trying to use it in presentation mode. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this. Based on what you posted, it may be a hardware issue since it doesn't attach/detach properly in a certain position as you had to manually remove it via the paperclip method.

You might want to****try cleaning the keyboard connectors. Dirty connectors on your keyboard can cause problems with attaching or detaching the Clipboard and may cause your Surface Book to stop responding or crash. Here's how to clean your connectors:

    1. Disconnect the power cord from your Surface Book 2 and unplug any video adapters and USB devices such as printers, keyboards, and mice.
    2. Detach the Clipboard from the keyboard.
    3. Wet a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol (use 95 percent isopropyl alcohol or higher if possible). Use the swab to clean the silver pins on both faces of the three connectors, located on the top middle surface of the keyboard hinge. Rub the swab back and forth vigorously, and use a fresh swab surface to clean each of the six connector faces. For more info, see Clean and care for Surface.
    4. Check that the pins are dry and that there are no cotton fibers or small objects on the connector.
    5. Reattach the Clipboard to the keyboard.

    Get the latest Windows updates

Make sure that you have the latest updates installed on your Surface Book 2. For more info on installing updates, see Install Surface and Windows updates. If your Surface Book 2 doesn't restart automatically, select the Start ****button, and then select Power > Restart.

We hope this helps you out, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

    Kind regards,
